Summary

“We have to speak. We aren’t going to say everything perfectly, but in a season like this, silence is agreement.” Pastor Steven Furtick and Pastor John Gray sit down to have a conversation about race, privilege, apathy, and what it will take to become the bridge to a better future.

We hope this message inspires you to have your own conversations in your home and community. We each have a responsibility to stand up in the face of injustice –– and equality will never be attained through silence.

We've got a very important message. Those who are here, you can just take a seat right

0:23.3

where you are in your home. I want you to do your best to clear out distractions because

0:28.6

I think this is going to be a very, very significant message today. Why don't you go ahead

0:35.8

and get set up behind me? I asked them instead of bringing out my pulpit today to bring out

0:41.5

two chairs because I'm not doing this alone today. This is a very, very, very strategic

0:50.2

moment. I've asked my friend Pastor John Gray to come and help me bring this message

0:55.5

today. Before he comes, and really I'm just stalling to give them time to set this

1:01.9

up, or I'd call them up right now, but look at these chairs they brought for us. This

1:08.2

is serious. The reason I wanted two chairs to be up here is because I was noticing one

1:14.5

time in Scripture how Jesus stood for people that others didn't stand for. He stood by

1:22.9

people that others didn't stand with. In a moment where our nation is collectively

1:29.4

reeling from the atrocity of the murder of George Floyd on the streets of Minneapolis,

1:34.3

Minnesota, in this nation at the hands of a law enforcement officer, I thought it was

1:41.4

time for us. In fact, I knew it was time because the Holy Spirit spoke to me that it was

1:46.6

time for us to sit down. Sit down and have a conversation. Today's message will feel

1:52.6

little different than the typical message because there comes a time where in order to

1:57.4

take a stand first, you have to take a seat. I think the reason that Jesus was able to

2:05.5

stand with people and stand for things that mattered to the heart of his father is because

2:11.2

he sat with people to understand situations. Today I wanted to bring Pastor John who I
