bitter conflict in South Sudan. The war in the world's newest

nation started in December, putting government forces against rebels. There's been relatively

little international attention to the conflict despite accusations of

widespread war crimes and the targeting of civilians because of their

ethnicity. A million people have been forced to leave their homes. A previous ceasefire in January was

violated within days and the mediator for the new peace deal expressed only guarded

optimism that this one would stop the fighting.

Alistelithhead has been in the town of Bentieu,

where one of the most recent battles took place
