Peter Quint was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis when he was three years old. Peter is a familiar face to many of us.

He's a member of our community here.

This is him at age three when he received that diagnosis. His legs were in so much pain that he could barely

walk as a child. But at least at the time, the only medical advice to avoid a wheelchair was to do

as much walking as possible. So over the course of his adolescence,

his father took walks with him nearly every single day.

Now Peter is 71 years old.

He lives with a few residual deformities to this day,

but he walks, and he has never spent a day of his life in a wheelchair. 71. He's old.

And most Sundays, at some point in our worship gathering, I will glimpse Peter right here on the front

row with his arms stretched up high, belting out off-key lyrics at the top of his lungs, jumping

up and down like a child. An old man, seven decades into a medical condition that was meant to

land him in a wheelchair, jumping up and down like a child in worship.

Peter's highly intelligent. He was a physician for 43 years. He has saved countless lives.

He has relieved so many families of grief that was coming their way with the sharpness

of his intellect.

Peter is highly respected.

He's one of the elders of our church.
