I didn't realize what I was dealing with when I first worked on a case where a jogger goes missing.

I remember her name, Julie Love, in Atlanta.

At the time I was a felony prosecutor in intercity Atlanta.

She had been out jogging.

She was a kindergarten teacher and she couldn't be found.

The investigation was fierce and at one point, finally, her glass eye was found. To look at her, you would never even know

she had a prosthetic eye, but she did. And that cracked the case wide open. Since that time,

over and over and over, we hear about usually women who go missing or end up murdered while exercising.

Julie was murdered, and there have been thousands of women who go missing or murdered since that time.

When I first encountered that case, I did not realize that her disappearance in death was just the tip of the iceberg.
