Beatie Deutsch is the Israeli national champion in the marathon and half marathon. As a mother of five young children, she has learned to apply her training to the real marathon of life. Beatie took up running just four years ago and recently went pro with the goal of qualifying for Tokyo 2020 and representing Israel in the Olympics. More than anything else, her journey has empowered her to dream big and keep pushing, a message Beatie is passionate about sharing with other women.

0:00.0	The Olympic Committee announced the standard for the 2020 Olympics and they actually change it to the most difficult standard it has ever been and you now they cut the field of women they were taking in half to only 80 and they said in order to qualify you

0:20.9	faster than any other year in the Olympics and just to understand what
0:25.3	that is that means running a 541 minute mile for 26.2 miles. So at that point

0:36.7	Beattie, you're amazing, but like you might as well give up like you're not hitting that even in your lifetime.
0:42.2	And I said, you know, if Hashem brought me this far it was to me it was so clear like it was all from Hashem like he could bring me that far

1:00.4	So back in the day it was common to hear about people that had to make sacrifices
1:08.6	for what they believed in you know when after the war in America people even before the war people and
1:17.6	Shabbis from people in Shabbis if you weren't going to come in and stay late on Friday and work on Saturday, you're going to get fired.
1:25.7	And people had to make the sacrifice of saying, I keep Shabbis and I'm not going to sacrifice that. And and unfortunately some people couldn't keep to it
1:34.9	It doesn't really happen so much these days but
1:38.1	We're living in 22 and it kind of still does happen and
1:46.8	You'll hear in this conversation how it happened to Mrs. Deitch and how she overcame that desire, I don't say to break shops, but desire to follow her dreams and actually to figure
1:56.9	out truly what's really the most important thing in her life.
