Seattle, there are tiny hidden beaches. They're called street ends because that's where they are.

Coming up, we'll take a trip to a secret beach on Lake Washington with KUOW's Katie Campbell

But first, let's get you caught up.

The Seattle City Auditor is recommending that Mayor Bruce Harrell appoints someone to oversee the city's response to overdoses and crime.

That's among eight recommendations from the auditor's latest report on the subject.

The report focused on a two-block area in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood.

It will be presented to a council

committee this week. Auditors found 10 specific street sections had 100 or more combined

incidences of crime or overdose. A Seattle City Council Committee will hear from affordable

housing providers today about what they're facing. The presentation to the Housing and

Human Services Committee will illustrate how increasing operating costs and a lack of services

for tenants struggling with mental illness are a challenge, especially post-pandemic. The city's

Human Services Department will also update the Council on public safety initiatives, like an upcoming executive order to address gun violence in schools.

And good news for fans of semi-pro soccer in Seattle, popular local club Ballard FC is officially adding a women's team.
