Here's the things about wins though. Wins are really never ugly. Especially wins on the road when you're talking about a rookie quarterback getting the opportunity to start the game.

And Justin Fields, I thought, played okay in this game. I don't think that they gave him a lot that he was able to do. And that stinks. That they didn't do that for him. It felt very...

It felt like they took a step backwards with what they were asking him to do. And it's fine. They did what they needed to do to win the game.

And that's the way that I imagine they probably look at it. It's like, let's try and win the game. But there were not a lot of opportunities there for him to throw the ball.

12-20 had a touchdown pass in the game. 111 yards. They made a commitment to running the ball. Like, we can't be mad at him for that. They ran the ball 37 times in this game.

They were out here trying to run it. And there were opportunities for them to be able to run the ball against the Raiders. The Raiders gave him that chance.

This game to me, and we can talk about the offense and what you're looking for for Justin Fields. Some of the good was, I thought that when he steps into a throw, man, I love it.

And it seems like he's stopping the drifting towards the end of the game. They had an important drive. They ended up with a bit of a cowardice call at the end of it on a third and short.

But before that, he had moved the ball down the field on third downs with throws. And when he steps into those throws, man, you see that rocket arm that he has.

It felt like certain points of the game that the Bears were trying to hang on instead of showing some killer instinct. And you have to understand that there's cross purposes that are going on here.

And the cross purposes are, well, we want to develop this quarterback, but we also want to make sure that we keep our jobs. And if we win games while developing the quarterback, how in the world could they even think about firing us?

That's what the end of the game felt like.

It felt as if what we were seeing was them saying, oh, we got a chance to steal one on the road. Let's just hang on. Our defense is playing great. And we can win this game.

I'm never going to tell a team to not win a game, but it did feel like there were points in the game where they were so scared to take a chance with fields.

Then it was frustrating. Like you made it very frustrating to watch, but they won and they won on the strength of their defense, their defense.

Man, I don't even think the stats tell you how badly they mauled.

Maul Derrick Car in this one. You see Caliamaq second in tackles today. He was in the backfield all day long. That pressure was there.

Had to play on the on the two point conversion where he gets to car had the sack.

All the stuff that you're hoping for God that's going up against the team that that he feels did him wrong and he ends up now with through five games.
