Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible,

chapter by chapter, book by book.

Did you know that Jesus commands us to be of good cheer?

That's right, we are told specifically by the Lord

to be joyful. Now some may protest and say, well, you don't know my circumstances. Nobody could be

happy in my situation. But this is not true. Jesus does know your circumstances, and yet he lovingly

tells us to be of good cheer.

Fortunately, Jesus also explains how this can be. He tells us how we can be happy in every situation.

The explanation is found in John chapter 16. We began this study on our last program and learned that there are three things

that Jesus tells us about being of good cheer. The first thing is that the very source of our pain

can also be the source of our blessing. And as an example, Jesus talked about childbirth.

The baby causes a lot of pain at childbirth, but that very child

then becomes the source of much blessing. Let's now join Pastor John as he is discussing

these reasons for always being of good cheer.
