| 0:49.1 | look at the Gospels of course, but with a special emphasis on the first reading, |

| 0:59.6 | Leviticus. Leviticus is a very important book in the Bible. It finds itself in |
| 1:05.4 | the Torah, you know, the first five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, |
| 1:10.6 | Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. That's the fundamental law of Israel. It's |
| 1:17.5 | the cornerstone in many ways of the biblical revelation. As the name suggests, |
| 1:22.4 | this book has a lot to do with the Levites. Levites were the priests of |
| 1:27.9 | ancient Israel. That's why there's a lot of talk in the book of Leviticus about |
| 1:33.0 | ritual and sacrifice and taboo and clean and unclean and all the things |
| 1:38.6 | happen to do with temple and ritual and worship and so on. In a word you might |
| 1:44.4 | say the book of Leviticus is laying out the practices by which Israel set |
| 1:51.4 | itself apart from the other nations. You know, the term in Hebrew for holy is |
| 1:59.4 | Kaddosh and that has the sense of setting apart. What I find interesting here |
