Turning your Bibles if you're able and to the book of Ephesians chapter 4.

Our text today will be verses 2 through 6.

If you're able, if not that's so right, but I'll ask you to stand.

Pardon me, the Apostle Paul is writing by the holy spirit to the church there in ephesus

and he says verse two be completely humble and gentle be patient bearing with one another in love, make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.

There is, verse four, one body and one spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called.

One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. Boy, that says it all right

there, doesn't it? Why don't we pray if you would join with me?

Loving Heavenly Father, would you at this time settle our hearts and enable us by the Holy Spirit to give you our undivided attention so that you can speak into our lives in and through your word.

Lord, would you keep away and at bay any potential distraction that would cause our minds to wander because we don't want to miss anything

that you have for us in our time together today. So Lord, get our attention and keep our attention,

we pray. In Jesus' name, amen. You can be seated. Thank you. So, I want to talk to you today about humility.

I chuckle because there's nothing more for a pastor difficult than talking about being humble. I know in my own life I am very proud of my humility.

I'm also very humble about my pride and the thing about humility is when you think that you're being humble

you blew it because then pride sets in because I'm so humble not anymore

you're not.

But I want to talk about being completely humble and what being completely humble will look like in the life of a Christian.

And with that also the life of a Christian. And with that also the life of a healthy church. By way of a preface to today's teaching, I need to point out that we can't do humble, we must be humble. I'm sure you've heard the quip about Jesus' sermon and how that they're not called the do attitudes, they're called the be attitudes.

Because being humble is not something They're not called the do attitudes, they're called the be attitudes.

Because being humble is not something we do.

Certainly we do humble things, but being humble is who we are.
