Good morning everyone and welcome back to another morning with the masters where we devote ourselves to the Lord daily with you.

Good morning you guys. Good morning we are in our live on purpose devotional and we're just going to go and hop on in.

Yes y'all let's do it. Today's devotional is titled someone who will tell you the truth and we're reading out of Proverbs 27 verse 9 and it says the heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.

Friends are wonderful they listen to us validate our feelings and often tell us exactly what we want to hear but sometimes we need more than that.

We need a mentor someone who's willing to tell us when we've gotten off track who will tell us the truth godly mentors provide three things friends don't always offer they won't judge they won't validate feelings that don't align with God's word and they will cover the lies you believed with God's truth.

There was a time when I was struggling desperately and I suddenly felt an overwhelming conviction to share it with my mentor the pain that I had been hiding inside of me.

I needed to tell her some of the things I'd been struggling with that were holding my heart captive as I talked to her she did the most amazing thing.

She simply began to speak truth from the word of God every verse or biblical principle she shared with me brought light into my heart.

Where darkness had lived for so long as she shared the word and prayed for me and with me I began to see the lies for what they were complete untruths and as the word of God brought light to my mind those lies began to unravel and no longer held me captive I began to see a whole new side of God and develop a deeper relationship with him.

I pray that God will bless you with a godly mentor in your life someone who will help you see what is truth and what is not.

But let me say this the key to a breakthrough is not looking to a mentor it's looking to God that's where healing is a good mentor will point you to his word not just their own.

If you are wondering if you can ever find freedom from your pain I encourage you to start by looking to God and repenting of your sins seek out someone you trust like I did and make a turn toward God it's a necessary step towards living out your purpose.

I don't know what your journey will be but I believe with all my heart that God has freedom for you and that you'll find it.

Yeah I love this devotional because I love that it's focusing on not only finding like good people to speak into your life yeah but it's also like these people point to a good God yeah and it just makes you think of Job I can't think of yeah because true you know he was going through all the stuff he's going through and then the peanut gallery started chirping up you know his friends that the best thing they did was listen to job and the worst thing they did was start giving him advice yeah.

And because they weren't reflecting the truth of God right they were reflecting their own quote unquote wisdom their own thoughts their own feelings and it wasn't pointing to God it was pointing to their own understanding of God yeah and that's not the way to do things you want me to that points to the truth yeah and so when you are looking for a mentor you you want to be a bit picky you know I know that it's not easy for everyone to find one and I want to be sensitive to that.

Yeah we have to be selective and make sure that this point that this person is pointing to God yeah and I definitely encourage all to pray about it because like the devotional said number one healing is found in the presence of God and the importance of a mentor is that when you are going through something hard what they are saying is pointing you into the presence of the Lord and pointing you to his truth so if you don't currently have a mentor take that upon yourself and make the decision.

To go to the Lord about it to pray about it to read scripture but also be praying that the Lord will open a door for a godly mentor to come into your life because I know and y'all know because I talk about it so often but I do think when my mentor came into my life years and years ago it was a huge turning point in my life and I'm forever grateful for that yeah and I've been so blessed with mine as well I mean and God is so good.

And listen and please hear me when I say this that he has a person for you and what I mean by that is that I was modeling for like seven eight years and not only did I find mentors that had previously modeled that were strong Christians these guys were also pastors you know and how rare is it to find someone that we call it going from modeling to ministry but like he opened up those doors and we have to seek him on this to say good will you please open up a mentor for me.

God someone who understands where I'm at and what I'm going through God I know that it's possible we please make it happen yeah it's good you ready for me to pray son out I am Lord thank you for this reminder this devotional Lord that we need people and we need people to point to you to reflect you to reveal you to share wisdom about you God but it's always always about you Lord will you help us to keep that is the forefront of our brain to not just try to

find substitute God's Lord we so easily try to pursue that we there be through other books or devotionals or or just watching a bunch of sermons God all these things are great but they're all compliments to you God we need we need more sources that point to the one true king which is you Lord and I just pray for anyone here who doesn't have access to a mentor Lord I pray that you will just work a miracle to bring someone into the

life and it may not always look like the way that they want it to God but you have people that that are perfect for what they need Lord and we just pray a special blessing over our listeners right now Lord that we know that you have people for them Lord and so we just

bag of you to bring them into their lives Lord and your sons and we pray Amen Amen God Amen God Amen y'all well now is the perfect time throwing the worship music break up the journal and keep pressing into God
