The Apostle Paul was in chains when he wrote 2nd Timothy, and rather than using his final letter to complain or protect

himself, he used it to pass the baton, calling Timothy to courage, boldness, and faithfulness.

Well, now here's Chip Ingram, with his Bible open to 2 Timothy

chapter 1, starting in verse 6, where Paul is sharing some important

challenges with young Timothy.

Challenge number one is to be bold and fulfill your calling from verses six and seven.

He says, notice, for this reason, what reason?

The reason of how much I love you, the reason for where I'm at, the reason for why we're

here in God's calling, for this reason,

I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Why?

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

He's telling him, basically, Timothy, you've got what you need to make it.
