0:07.0	Made for a mere 12 million dollars, it went on to gross nearly half a billion dollars in ticket sales. It wasn't just the first horror film ever to be
0:15.0	nominated for an Academy Award, it quickly became known as one of the scariest movies of all time.
0:21.1	What an excellent take for an exercise, huh?
0:24.5	Some would say it still is.
0:27.8	William Friedkin, the director, died earlier this year, which also happens to be the film's 50th anniversary.
0:33.0	So it's fitting that yet another exorcist sequel will be released this coming October.
0:38.0	But the film's ongoing relevance is just one example among many others of the unprecedented popularity of the horror genre.

1:00.3	That was just last year and truth be told, I didn't really have a choice in the matter.
