Now the battle took place this week on December 2, 1805.

It was against the Russians and the Austrians in a deep dark European winter.

But this date, December 2nd, is a very special day that looms large in the calendar for

those who worship Napoleon Bonaparte.

Because it's also the date just a year before to the very day

that he crowned himself Emperor of France.

So this battle was very much a testing of his metal in the early days of

his time as Emperor. And here is Andrew Roberts to tell us all about it.
