Summary

Today we're taking a look at playoff standings and figuring out the new playoff format once and for all. We're talking about teams on the bubble in the NL and Joey thinks you cannot count the Padres in. We get into baseball nerd discussion and admit that if you're watching as much baseball as us you have to be a nerd; it's just about being a self-aware nerd. We have some new MLB rules as it pertains to pitch-clock and shifting and we're diving into how this will affect the game next year and in the coming years. We also can't forget about the implementation of bigger bases which is huge for fans of base-stealing. Joe Maddon had some bitter comments about analytics making the game unwatchable so we're playing the audio and trying to figure out where he's coming from. Manny fucking Machado has been one of the best hitters in baseball since he reminded the world that he's Manny fucking Machado, but Juan Soto is in the midst of the worst slump of his career. Pujols hit TWO more home runs since the last episode which puts his total at 697; passing ARod and getting himself three away from 700. The Mariners and Braves played what might be the game of the year and we're playing audio from the electric Mariners broadcast team. Mike Trout has hit six home runs in his last six games and might be on the cusp of making major league history. Derek Jeter threw a ball for his first pitch appearance and also stood in front of the mound which many are saying is very insulting. Jared needs to go to the doctor. Enjoy!
