For today, we'll be doing again our normal theme of baseball is American history.

But specifically today, we're going to focus on what I've

called the years of Ballyhoo or baseball during the Great Depression. And this will

incorporate a lot of themes we've been developing throughout the semester. You

know, one of my mantras for this class is that everything you need to know about

American history you can learn by studying baseball. And we're going to see that in action today.
