I got into the Olympics late in the Olympics last week, but we talked a lot about Michaela Schifrin.

We talked a lot about Alyssa Lou.

Michaela Schifrin sent the following tweet at the end of the Olympics.

She wrote, quote, I want to sincerely thank one of the great writers out there, Barry's Verluga,

who will sadly be closing this chapter with the Washington Post. You have covered the highs and lows of my career

with integrity and passion. Thank you, looking forward to following your next chapter. Close quote.

That is really unbelievable. you rarely see that happen publicly

uh from coaches or players or athletes uh barry's veruga joins us right now and the news with

barry and several others from the post is that they are heading to the athletic. I'm going to get

to what Michaela Schifrin wrote to you on X, on Twitter in a moment, but I knew certainly that

Barry's Reluga wasn't going to be out there for very long after, you know, the news about the

Washington Post Sports Section ending.

So tell everybody about your next move and who will you, who will be joining you?

So I'm, you know, so grateful and thankful and excited because I get to do a version of the job that I've always wanted to do.

I'm going to be with Nikki Jeb Bala, our great beatwriter,

formerly a teammate of mine at the Post, out in Ashburn,

doing probably a more commanders-heavy version of my old job.

Like instead of going out there once a week and for the games, I'll be out

covering the commanders on a more daily basis, more regular training camp stuff.

But I'll also be able to weigh in and do my, you know, old columnist gig with,

whether it's pulling the learner's feet to the fire with the gnats or you know

weighing what's next for a vetchkin in the caps and just kind of be um a dc voice so you know the
