This is Beyond a Reasonable Doubt with your hosts, Mark Garragus and Gary Smith.

0:29.1

Welcome again to Sunday's of our life in Gary, a Sunday early drop start on the week.

0:38.8

This one I think was really spurred by the number of people who either tweeted, texted or emailed about one particular story.

0:48.8

Gary, can you guess what that story was?

0:51.0

I don't need to guess I know exactly which story it was, but I'm going to correct you a little bit.

0:54.3

This was not spurred by the number of people who texted us in sentional headlines.

0:58.2

This was spurred by you getting into the nitty gritty of the case and sending me something that was actually interesting.

1:04.4

I have so little interest in this Geico case where some woman got a SCD in her car and it's just it's every headline right now and everyone's tweeting it to us and I get it.

1:14.5

But the take that most articles have been giving, I don't care about because I've seen it in 7, 8, 9 articles.

1:41.9

And the award was $5.2 million against Geico who was the auto insurer for a woman who claims she got HPV by having unprotected sex in the car.

1:54.6

And that makes a great head. Right. It makes an amazing headline. But before we go any further, let's just put it on the table.

2:00.8

Geico's a friend of the show. We love Geico, excellent company, you know, bundle and save. They're great. But you know, you hit the news. You got to be talked about. I don't know what to tell you there, Geico.

2:12.0

Well, and I think I think that's an important disclaimer as well, because when I read the opinion, it became a lot more nuanced than what it was. I mean, at least as initially reported.

2:30.7

It appeared to be that some Arbitrator and some court had just gotten wrong. Well, what actually happened if you read the opinion, which is Gary, what 15 pages by the court of appeal.

2:44.9

It might even be basically. Yeah, it's long.

2:47.1

The try, this is what happened. The woman made a claim against she had a characterized by the court, at least a long term romantic relationship with the owner of the car.
