In this Season 6 opener, you'll hear the jaw-dropping, twisty case of Barbara Carr Villarreal. Barbara was stabbed to death in her Garland, TX home in 1986. Her husband was also attacked in the home invasion. But stories and evidence did not match up, and police were left chasing their tails, and chasing their prime suspect who was in the wind. Nothing in this case was as it seemed to be, and justice for Barbara seemed unattainable. Modern investigators had to solve an identity theft case to find the true name of the person they believed was behind Barbara's murder, and then had to use kinship testing to finally name her murderer.

1:13.6	It was 1986. On the night of Friday, November 7th, at 8.52 p.m., a call came in to the police department in Garland, Texas, a large suburb in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.
1:38.0	A Mike Kay reported that his neighbor was at his home and had been tied up.
1:42.1	He said something had happened to his wife.
1:44.4	The dispatcher broadcast a possible disturbance call, and Lieutenant J.K. Allen was the first to
1:49.1	respond to 3613 Colbath Drive. When the lieutenant arrived at the freestanding home, Mike,
1:55.8	and his neighbor, Domingo Villarreal, were waiting for him. Domingo had blood on his hands and the sleeve of his
2:01.4	sweater. He said that something happened to his wife who was inside their home next door at
2:06.1	3609 Colbath. I know she is dead, he said. Mike, the neighbor, handed Lieutenant Allen some
2:12.4	brown twine. He said Domingo had come to his door with his pants down below his buttocks and his
2:17.4	hands tied with the twine, and Mike had untied the guy. Lieutenant Allen noted that Domingo's affect was calm. He didn't appear very upset or anxious. He asked Domingo, what's going on? Domingo said two men were in my house. They tied me up, and I could hear my wife Barbara screaming. When the men left,
2:34.8	Domingo said he ran straight to the neighbors and called the police. Domingo said he did not check on
2:39.5	Barbara before running out of the house. He didn't go to see if his wife was okay before summoning help.
2:44.6	She was not okay. Lieutenant Allen cautiously entered the Villarreal home, not certain whether
2:49.9	intruders were present.
