I'm not 100% sure of the rightness or wrongness of the arrest of

telegrams Pavildurov or Brazil shutting down Twitter in their country. I

know it would never fly in our country. We have the First Amendment. They don't. It's good that we have the First Amendment. They don't.

It's good that we have the First Amendment.

It's bad that they can shut down speech they disagree with.

However, there are also issues of compliance with the law,

an idea competing with the ideal of free speech is, say,

investigating and trying to stamp out kitty porn. And in that case, and this is literally what seems to be going on with

telegram among the things are that French authorities have over and over again

tried to compel telegram to assist them in investigations, including investigations into child pornography,

and telegram of which Durav is the CEO has no interest. So something comes to a head.

And now Pavel Durov is in French custody.

I'm trying to see how the Brazil X story plays out.

So for example, I've been reading about reaction in Brazil in the

Wall Street Journal today. Sal Paolo, tens of thousands of

supporters of former president Yarra Bolsonaro took to the streets of

Brazil's biggest city Saturday on the country's

Independence Day to rally against the government and protest the Supreme Court's

ban of Elon Musk's social media platform X. So it's a platform, that story did note only 10% of Brazilians use X.
