Hello again, I'm Orin Alney, and this is To the Poet from Public Radio International,

a daily look of the issues Americans care about most.

During the Bush administration,

the U.S. and Israel worked hand and glove, but President Obama has outraged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Obama wants a freeze on settlements in the West Bank and demands that a Jewish housing development

in East Jerusalem not be permitted. Former diplomats say Obama's reneging on promises made by President Bush.

Most American Jews still support the president, but even left-wing Israelis want reassurances

that the U.S. is still a friend. As the U.S. tries to restart the peace process, we'll try to sort
