Good morning, my friends. I'm so thankful that you're here. Are you ready to get your

mind aligned with the truth of God? That's why we're here. That's today in the Book

of Acts chapter 19. We have a great passage in front of us. One that's very inspiring

and encouraging, but it's also one that many times can be used to create doctrinal

positions that are not consistent with the rest of Scripture. I'm going to point that

out this morning, but I also want to make it clear that I'm no expert in these kinds

of things. I'm just trying to interpret Scripture the way that I see Scripture in the way

that it lines up the rest of Scripture. So let's dive in. This is Acts chapter 19. It

says, and it happened that while a Paul's was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland

country and came to Ephesus. There, he found some disciples, and he said to them, did you

receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? And they said, no, we have not even heard

that there is a Holy Spirit. And he said, into what then were you baptized? They said,

into John's baptism. So they're referring to John the Baptist, the repentance of sin.

And Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe

in the one who was to come after him. That is Jesus. On hearing this, they were baptized

in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit

came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. There were about 12 men

in all. Now in this passage, the Apostle Paul himself brings up this issue of receiving

the Holy Spirit when we believe. He's asking these people who have become believers in Jesus

Christ, were you recipients of the Holy Spirit at the time that you became a believer in Jesus

Christ? And these people didn't even know what he was talking about. Now from this passage,

many in our day have made the assumption that the coming of the Holy Spirit into our lives
