Welcome to the paranormal podcast. I am Jim Harold and so glad to be with you once again. And today we're going to talk about a new book that is out. Well, it's been out a few months, actually, but we've been wanting to get this guest on the show for a while, and we're so glad that we did because I love ancient lore.

And one of the greatest pieces of ancient lore is the Banshee.

And there is this recent book out, Beware the Banshees Cry, the folklore and history of messengers of death.

And the author, you see him there if you're watching

on video, Stephen J. Rolfes, and we're so glad to have him with us. He is indeed a Renaissance

man. He's the author of numerous books on Ohio and Cincinnati, including historic downtown

Cincinnati, which he co-authored with Kent Jones, Cincinnati theaters, and

Supernatural Lour of Ohio, my home state.

Now, Stephen is passionate about history, and he has been published in various magazines and

hosts a summer radio program telling ghost stories.

He has worked as a teacher, Border Patrol agent, salesman, jeweler, former ESL teacher for Spanish-speaking immigrants and detective.

He is a volunteer at the Cincinnati History Museum and an employee at the Ohio Regional Transit Authority.

And when you look up the term Renaissance man, his picture comes up.

And we're so glad to have him with us.

Well, it's great to have you on the show. So let's start very simply. What exactly many of us

have heard of it? What is a banshee? That's a great opening question, and it's a very

difficult one to answer. We know basically a banshee is always female.
