Hello and welcome to The Football Daily with me, Kelly Cates.

Wales are just one game away from qualifying for their first World Cup since 1958,

with victory over Austria in their playoff semi-final.

There was one star man and of course,

it was Gareth Bale with a stunning free kick and an equally impressive second goal.

Austria did get one back and despite a nervy closing few minutes,

Wales hung on to take the win.

Sam Ricketts, I was watching Gareth Bale at the final whistle,

by then he'd come off, he looked like he had a bit of a growing strain.

The way he was celebrating, he looked like a man who will never feel any pain again.

This is the Gareth Bale that has played for Wales since he was 16 to today.

I can't tell you again where I don't think he's played well for his country.

He's carried this country.

We are where we are today because of him really.

Yes, we've a team around him, we've got other top players around him,

but he is the one magical player.

There was a time where he would score 90% of all Wales' goals.

And you've read out that half time in the last few years,

his goals have got less and less,

but tonight they've never been more important.
