The next entry on the Chris Sims top 40 quarterback countdown. We have revealed 40 through 22, number 21, a guy who we thought was going to be a lot higher.

rookie regressed last year. Chris, regressed enough to fall down to number 21 on your list. And look,

I could identify multiple different reasons for the regression.

What was the main thing in your estimation that went wrong for Baker Mayfield last year?

I think overaggressiveness for one, okay? That would be the first negative I would look at.

And what I mean that, too,

I don't mean just with the decision making, but also with his want, you know, and I saw this when I go back and I talked about this during the season last year, but his motion got longer

a little in some instances and a lot during the year where he really reached back for more.

And it wasn't the motion I had seen from Oklahoma or his rookie year at Cleveland. So I think

there was times there where instead of being happy that he could throw the 100 mile per hour

fastball, he was reaching back to throw at 105. And did lose control of the ball at times that way yes and then

I think a little lack of detail with footwork would be the other thing Mike I know during the season

you and I broke it down a few times where yeah whether it was you know taking an extra hit step or

hey the pocket's clean, you know, just stand

there and be a machine and throw the football, but yet his feet would be cocked or in some weird

position.

And that would lead to, man, that receiver was open, but you missed them by three or four feet.

And now the ball got popped in the air and his interception or whatever it may be.

So to me, it's getting back to some of the basics, the technical basics for Baker-Mayfield.

I think that'll take away some of the negatives we saw from last year.
