We talk a lot about the Colorado Avalanche here at the DNBR Abelanch podcast, but every so often, we like to go behind enemy lines to see how the other teams in the league are doing.

We've already chatted with someone over at Sinbin for the Vegas Golden Knights, but figured we had to go on the other side of the Stanley Cup final and chat about the Carolina Hurricanes.

Here to do that with me is my good friend, Mike Manuscalco, play-by-play,

broadcaster for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Mike, I hope you're holding up well after all the trauma trip Tracy's put you through

up in that radio booth.

Yeah, I'm okay in the, I don't know if it would be a physics lesson right now or something like that, but I am built

much larger than Tripp, so I can endure more of the, how can we put it, more of the physical

play that has been inflicted. He's got a couple of good shots when I'm not expecting it, but

as we've moved on to the finals, he's realized

that if I wish to engage in that game, he's stepping up literally in weight class. But it's been

great. It's been fun. And yeah, I'm fine. And we'll see whatever it takes when you get to this

point, Bailey. Whatever it takes, it doesn't matter. I'm fine with it.

Has that aggression? Because I feel like it's a lot of aggression and violence in a little package with Tripp Tracy. Is that ramped up from series to series? Oh, yeah. Absolutely. I mean, every series, you've got to bring another level of intensity to it, right? And so that's what it comes into. And for me, like, there's always that slow burn underneath the surface. Like, I'm the, I'm the definition of don't poke the bear.

And now that the bear has been poked, I'm out of hibernation and all bets are off. I love this.

Well, let's go ahead and dive in. You spoke to some of that intensity too too. It's been an interesting path for the Carolina Hurricanes to get to this point.

And then you run into a really hot Vegas Golden Knights team that breeze through Colorado

to get to this point.

Talk to me a little bit about that path for the hurricanes and what that's kind of

looked like to get to the point they're at right now where they're getting ready to play a very intense game six. Well, you know, everybody always wants to go back to the past for this team and, you know, the fact that the last eight years, including this year, but the previous seasons, oh, you know, they can get to the conference final, but they don't win games or they have great great regular seasons, but they get knocked out by. And, you know, I can make the case. The teams that have knocked them out in the previous post seasons have either gone on to the Stanley Cup final or have gone on to the conference final. So it's not like it's their one and done. As a matter of fact, they've won a series or a postseason because the whole bubble thing is a different thing to get into.

But they've won a postseason series eight years in a row. This year, they play Ottawa. And Ottawa was a really people were looking at them, the darling of the Eastern Conference with, you know, the way that they played and everything that came together.

And they dispatched Ottawa in four games. And it was, you know, this was Carolina showing Ottawa, hey, we're the better team. We know what to do. We've been here. This is how the playoffs work. Then they play Philadelphia in the second round. And, you know, Philly comes off of the emotional series against Pittsburgh. but now everybody's like, oh, well, you know,
