She works at a bar. He was the maintenance man. There are fair as sudden, intense, but there are three people in this relationship. And late one night, one of them disappears, and there's no trace. The swamps of Ori County South Carolina are like a black hole.

The swamps of Ori County South, are like a black hole.

P Street boat landing is a dark desolate place.

There is no reason for a car to be there, abandoned in the middle of the night.

In these swampsamps anything can happen. Anything can disappear even a body.

Only a few miles from the dark swamps are these pristine beaches and the bustling

boardwalks of the South Carolina coast. Myrtle Beach is about 75 miles of beach, white sandy beaches.

We get 20 million tourists a year.

The actual permanent population of Myrtle Beach is more like around 30,000.

So this is still a really small town.

When I first came down to Myrtle Beach to report on this story.

One of the things that I noticed first

was this great divide between the tourists on the coast

and the locals who live west of the inter-coastal inland.

And it was there that in December of 2013,

a young woman just 20 years old, Heather Elvis disappears.

When people talk about Heather, they smile.
