Rapha presents Life in the Peloton! The Tour de France is a beast! A beautiful beast. It is the biggest annual sporting event in the world. Cycling fan or not, everyone knows about the Tour de France. When I was a professional it was obviously a marked goal for all the guys in the peloton. An achievement to simply get to the start line.Although never having ridden the Tour myself, the last couple of years I have been able to to visit the race from the inside – as a journalist with media eyes on. Working with my old mates from The Cycling Podcast last year and over these first 7 days of the Tour de France 2022 I have been able to absorb the energy the Tour gives to everyone who is a part of it.I wanted to try to take you, as listeners, backstage. To speak to as many different people around the start and finish lines as I could. To try to paint the whole picture for you – that, even if you’ve never been on the sidelines, allows you to understand why so many people want to flock to witness this race pass by. But most of all, I wanted take you inside the red tape, into the paddock with the buses, on course at the start/finish line, up close and personal to chat to riders and staff to hear what their experiences are from day to day travelling on tour. Join me as I make my way through the first week of the Tour de France 2022 – from the Grand Depart in Denmark, to the cobbles of Roubaix and then to the first mountain climbs of the race. 0:34.4	We're halfway through the Tour de France, and it has been a very, very exciting
0:39.0	race so far and actually I've got to experience it firsthand. I've been over here in Europe in
0:45.4	France, in Denmark to watch the Tour de France to report on the Tour de France. I've gone back
0:50.4	with my old colleagues Lionel Bernie and Francois Tomazzoézot, to record daily episodes on the cycling podcast.
0:57.8	And it's been a really great experience, not only as a journalism, but just to hang around the Tour de France.
1:03.4	The Tour de France is this big beast.
1:06.0	Inside the race, of course, we know that, but outside the race, the people that come to it, the sponsors, just the atmosphere around it. It's just been, it's been pretty incredible. And along the way, I thought, you know, well, I might record some of this. I might try and give you guys a little taste of what it's like to be on the tour. Some of you may have been to the Tour de France before, and some you may be thinking, I would like to go to it. Well, what I've tried to do is set up what it is. I've talked to riders, I've talked to fans, I've talked to director's sportive's mechanics, as many different people as I can to try and paint this picture for you of what the Tour de France is, this race that we all know about.
1:46.0	As well as being on the Tour de France, I also got to experience firsthand the Palace Raffer
1:53.0	collaboration kit. What did you guys think? I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
1:58.0	Of course, we were well aware of the collaboration a few years ago
2:01.7	when that kit hit the world by storm and now they went back and did it again. Last time was at the
2:07.2	Giro. This time they released it at the Tour de France and I grabbed Magnus Cortneilsson, the KOM wearer,
2:14.4	the polka-dot jersey wearer for the first week and I asked him, what is his favorite piece of Rafa clothing?
2:20.6	I think my favorite piece is the black shorts.
2:24.2	So that's a conservative part of that kit.
2:27.6	And I think black shorts just always holds up well.
2:30.6	And yeah, we have some colors on the sponsors to match up with the jerseys and
2:36.9	the bike and I think that that's really beautiful well the black nix can you believe it
