| 0:00.0 | And we're back with an all new episode of Keep It. |
| 0:13.2 | I'm Louis Fertel. |
| 0:14.6 | Now, this is very selfish. |
| 0:15.9 | Today, I am joined by an Emmy winner, not just a nominee. |
| 0:20.8 | You know, I think it's tacky to win, but I'm going to forgive him. This is a friend of mine, and actually a former boss of mine. He's an actor, fellow podcaster, now he's making his off-Broadway debut in the fabulous show, which he did in Edinburgh as now doing off-Broadway. Are you mad at me? This is Brian Safi. |
| 0:38.9 | Oh, my God. |
| 0:39.7 | First of all, we do need to clarify that it was a daytime Emmy. Does that change? No. Does that bring me down a level? No. I'm sorry, EGOT has leveled the playing field. Now, daytime is just, Emmy is an Emmy. You know what? Thank you. You're right. So yes, I do have one and was also nominated for another 55 years ago. |
| 0:56.0 | Yeah. |
| 0:56.6 | But that was right. |
| 0:57.4 | You wrote for Ellen. |
| 0:58.2 | That's right. So yes, I do have one and was also nominated for another 55 years ago. |
| 0:56.0 | Yeah. That was right. You wrote for Ellen in those days. That's what I wrote for Ellen. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. And then, I mean, it's so hilarious that you called me your boss. I never felt like that. I never want to be a boss again, by the way. Yes, you now host the Attitudes podcast. |
| 1:09.9 | It was once upon a time called Throwing Shade. |
| 1:12.1 | And there was a TV show time called Throwing Shade. |
| 1:12.1 | And there was a TV show based on Throwing Shade on TV land, which was basically a... All of that together is so crazy. Yeah, I know. That sentence is wild. Yeah, TV land, right. Like, you rudely interrupted Bewitched to make television. Well, it actually was King of Queens and the letters we got. I remember that people were so pissed and they were like, |
| 1:29.0 | well, this is nothing like King of Queens. |
| 1:31.3 | And we were like, well, this is nothing like King of Queens. And we were like proudly. Yeah. I think Leah Remini would have been a fine addition to the show. A hundred percent. I'm trying to remember if this was pre or post her Scientology take down. It was right in the middle of it, I think, because I remember discussing it with the other writers on the show. Yeah. And those manicures, remember? Yes, precisely. Those nails so bad. But at the time, it was a, you and Aaron Gibson, it was like a gay guy and a woman hosted Daily Show, basically. And I just want to say, we still need that. I know, right? Isn't that wild. Yeah. That gap still hasn't really been filled in that way. Yes. Yeah. But now you are the star of a show you written yourself, which I'm thrilled to hear is being received fabulously. Thank you. Across the pond and now we'll be here too. What is it like putting this show together and what neuroses are we tapping into? Oh my God, it is so, it honestly is way more stressful than I ever thought. |
| 2:18.3 | I would be, to be honest. |
| 2:19.7 | Yeah. |
| 2:19.9 | I mean, it's a blast because, like, for so long I've been in partnerships and it's nice to just do something solo. |
| 2:26.5 | And also, I've been on this show, which I love 9-1-1 for like eight seasons now. |
| 2:29.8 | Jesus Christ, no kidding. |
