Summary

Kane Parson's Backrooms, the current holder of The Internet's Creepypasta Heavyweight Belt, has finally hit the big screen. Delivering a unique take on the Liminal Horror experience, Backrooms has quietly become one of the most recognizable horror properties in the world and this new feature film delves deeper into the world of those spooky hallways than ever before. But don't come looking for answers because you're going to walk away with more questions than you came to the movie with thanks to A24's patented confuse-the-hell-out-of-you movie making template.

Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they sit down to discuss and dissect the wild and weird labyrinthian world of Backrooms. Are the Backrooms another dimension? Do you go on forever or is there a beginning and an end to this nightmare realm? And (maybe most importantly), what the hell was this confusing movie even about??!?

Note: Drive Home from the Drive-in reviews are FULL SPOILERS (with a quick 15-or-so minute spoiler free review at the top of the show). Want to know whether to watch or pass without the spoil?

Verdict: The leadup to Backrooms was such a rollercoaster that we really didn't know what to expect. We didn't really care much at all about the movie until that first trailer dropped, and then we were hooked. The anticipation was real, the premise was super scary, but we were pretty underwhelmed by the finished product. It's another secret A24 Art House Horror so you're probably either going to love it or hate it. We did not love it.

And as a special treat, we've recorded this DHFTDI in video! Glorious color! All the dimensions! Tune in via The Fiend Club on Patreon and see all our silly facial expressions while we review the most divisive movie of the year.Β

The other problem, too, is I know this is going on the internet. Yeah, but have you consumed them all through, like, Channel Zero, a media that you're more comfortable with? That's what I mean, is that... Okay. I don't know. There's some text-based creepypastas that I've read on Reddit that I thought were pretty fun.
