For once there are blue skies in Alaska. Folks I'm sitting in a little 2002 Toyota

Tundra pickup bombing my way down the highway from Fairbanks to Tok Alaska, where I'm about to fly in on a solo

caribou hunt. Well, by the time you listen to this, that hunt will have been over over and hopefully I'll be home safe.

But anyway if you hear the sound of a motor and the Alaska Highway underneath the

wheels and the rain powdering off the windshield.

That's what's going on.

And this episode is going to have to be purely rough, uncut, unedited because I'm just too short on time right now to give it a whole bunch of attention.

Unfortunately, I got to get this thing uploaded and scheduled to publish on time so that when I'm dragging out of the bush,

needing a shower and a bunch of clothes washed and all that, I don't let you guys down by just sleeping through my

deadlines to get this podcast published. So anyway that's the situation I'm

sitting in as I go to record this today, pretty random, pretty, I don't know,

unconventional, we'll just keep it conversational today.

So what I want to do is just do a short episode addressing rifling twist rates and

backcountry hunting bullets. I've had a lot of listeners questions recently from fellas that are wondering if a certain

rifling twist rate in a given production rifle will work with a certain bullet they want to shoot.

So the first thing, let me just encourage all of you to put on your research hats and start crunch in numbers.

If you're wondering about these things,

look up the, you know, the manufacturer's rifling twist

rate specs on that model for a given cartridge.

Let's just use the 7mm Remington Magnum for example.
