Welcome to Russian History Retold, episode 207. Back to the beginning.

Well I have to admit that over the past couple years I haven't been posting as many episodes and I

want to really give back to the community that have been supporting me over these

years. So what I want to do is go back to the very beginning to episode one. Have you listened to it again

and then I'm going to come on at the end of the episode and tell you about some of the things

that I've learned in the past 10 plus years. It's going to be 11 years at the end of April that I've

been doing the Russian History Podcast. There's been so much new stuff that I've...

And moving ahead we had some problems between the

Byzantine's and the Hussars I mean they were always working together but then there was a new group that would come down and this is from the land of the roofs and we've talked about this and that's the Varangian guard.

These are the Varangians who came from the north, including Rurik.

They would go down and they would start having their wars with the Hazars around 860 to 880.

And this when Kevin Grand Prince Sjatislav

finally defeated the Hazars,

this was the end of that.

And they would linger around the peoples until about the Mongol invasion but that

was about it.

So that's what I've learned so far.

When we come to the next episode, episode two, and it's including Vladimir the Great,

I really was remiss and saying a lot about him.

I've had a lot more information about Vladimir and that's what we're going to be adding

on to the next one and I'm hoping that on the 10th and the 20th of each month I'll come up with

another one of the episodes so I hope you enjoyed that and of course as always
