culty news thing of the week. We have been talking about reality stars or people who are in the

media showing their religion. And we're going to talk about how we feel about The Bachelorette being

canceled and lots of other commentary around Mormonism in general.

Joined with me is Amanda Ray Grant. Thank you for being here, girl.

Hello. And I'm excited about this because we were kind of obsessed with it when it came out in the very first season.

I know. Yeah, we were talking all about it, dissecting it.

There were so many things, so many thoughts that we both had.

So if you're new to the channel, I grew up mainstream Mormon, which is what the show is trying to portray.

And Amanda grew up in a fundamentalist version of Mormonism, a lot more extreme.

which is where we both grew up. And normally she's in studio with us, living in her home,

but not today. But I had to get boots on the ground in Utah for you guys. Just for this video.

So there's a lot going on.

And I want to make it clear from the get-go that the point of this video is not to shame or point fingers.

It's not to just call Taylor out for the things that she did,

although she should be accountable. And it's also not to victim blame or, you know,

there's, I don't want to come across as mean girls are catty. I really want to analyze

the effects of what happens when you try to put a certain religion on a pedestal

on reality TV. We've seen it with the Duggers. We've seen it with Welcome to Plathville.
