First Corinthians chapter three, we're going to do verses one through four.

For my part, brothers and sisters, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual people,

but as people of the flesh, as babies in Christ.

I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, since you were not yet ready for it.

In fact, you are still not ready because you are still worldly. For since

there is envy and strife among you, you are not worldly and behaving like mere human.

Are you not worldly and behaving like mere humans? For whenever someone says I belong to Paul,

and another I belong to Apollos, you are, are you not acting like mere humans? So what's happening here in these

first four verses is Paul is talking about baby Christians, but not in the baby Christians in the

way that you and I talk about it. Like, for example, we might say, I have this friend, they're a baby

Christian. And what we mean by that is they're new to the faith, right? What Paul is saying here is a lot of times Christians who have even been in the faith for a long time

can still operate as baby Christians. Or basically he means they can be immature in their faith.

Even if they've been a Christian 10 years, 20 years, 10 weeks, two months, whatever,

you can still have an immaturity in your faith. And it's mainly sought out in one thing. And that's what Paul's

going to talk about as jealousy. So the way to know is someone is mature in Christ is jealousy,

whether or not they're jealous of other believers or anyone out there. So we're going to talk

about that today. But I think a good example just to intro this, so we're on the same page, is in

1 Samuel chapter 18, 6 through 11. 1st Samuel chapter 18, 6 through 11 is a little picture of

King Saul, King Saul. So Saul was the first king of Israel. You know, God is the first king of Israel

if you want to go that way. But the people are like, we want a king. God's like, you don't need a

king. I'm your king. But they're like, but all the cool people have kings. So we want to have a king

too. So God's like, okay, I'm just going to say it now. I told you so, so I don't have to
