David Davis, the Conservative MP, and Caroline Lucas, the Green Party leader, have written to Michelle Donelan, the Secretary of State for Digital, Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), raising concerns that the Counter Disinformation Unit (CDU) is “monitoring online dissent”. Coming up this morning, we're going to be looking into the scourge of shoplifting, which has hit a flashpoint in South London yesterday in a place called Peckham, which is kind of known as the People's Republic of Peckham.

There's a lot of activists down there, a lot of lawlessness as well.

But there's a couple of people who run a shop down there who are currently at the centre of a police investigation

because they try to prevent a woman who was leaving their shop with a load of stuff, the complicated story which we'll tell you about over the course of this hour,

trying to leave a shop with stuff that she was not entitled to leave with, shall we say, or cut to the chase, call it shoplifting.

She's been arrested by the police after a scuffle ensued.

She was with help, she was kind of restrained from leaving the shop because the people in the shop didn't want her to leave with all the stuff that she had stolen.

And then somehow it all ended up in a big bum fight with people outside accusing those in the shop who appear to be Asian men, being racist against black people.

The woman in question happens to be black.

All sorts of ridiculous placards were thrown around,

calls to shut the shop down, racism, chants, all sorts of stuff going on. It's a typical kind

of situation that erupts in these kind of places where sometimes a flashpoint could be

the simple thing, a spark that starts a riot. Thankfully a riot didn't happen. The police arrived and it was calm

after a few hours. But a typical example of what is going wrong with this country, the law and order is breaking down.

People are doing what they think they can do to get away with it and they don't really care.
