Summary

This episode is going out, with love, to all my fellow recovering people-pleasers. This is also an important episode if you have any tendencies of seeking approval from others, or feeling like you have to ask others for permission to be your authentic self.

Join me for an in-depth discussion of:

  • what people-pleasing actually is
  • how we might use people-pleasing as a "shield of niceness" to protect or defend ourselves
  • the core fears that drive people-pleasing
  • the consequences of people-pleasing on your whole being (emotions, body, mind, Soul)

I've created a guided healing journey as a companion to this episode, to help you release people-pleasing and approval-seeking behaviors. To access this resource, you can go to my Resources for Self-Healing page (scroll down a bit if you're on mobile):

and you have an issue with people pleasing or seeking approval from others, I know that you have a

1:23.0

deep well of emotion, empathy, and consideration for others. I know you are probably a highly

1:30.4

sensitive person. I know you are likely very in tune with others' emotions and needs. These are

1:39.1

the traits that often accompany people-pleasing, or that make us good at people pleasing because we can sense

1:47.5

what others need or want from us even at a subtle level and we can accommodate sometimes contort

1:56.8

ourselves to meet those needs or wants from others.

As I mentioned here just in a recent episode of the podcast, I have been called to create

2:11.1

specific healing resources to accompany the podcast. So you can do the healing work and have a clear structure and support

2:21.7

for doing that inner work that's necessary to heal yourself. So for this episode, I have

2:29.6

created a resource and it's a guided healing journey to release people pleasing approval, addiction,

2:38.9

and the feeling that you have to ask others for permission to make decisions, to live your life,

2:46.4

to be yourself, basically to be your authentic self. So I'm excited to share this resource and I will talk a

2:53.9

little bit more about it as it accompanies the episode. It's a companion for the episode. So I'll talk

3:02.1

about it a little bit later on. But first, let's go a lot more in depth into people pleasing. So we'll set
