Summary

In this episode of AWAKENING, I explore what it means to experience a crisis of purpose as you awaken. Join me for a discussion of:

  • what is a crisis of purpose? how do you know if you're going through one?
  • how waking up spiritually can make us realize we're not in alignment with our true purpose
  • how your tolerance for mis-alignment and lack of fulfillment goes down the more you awaken
  • my own crisis of purpose that led me to quit academia to start doing spiritual work
  • practices to begin connecting with your true, Soul-level purpose

Throughout the episode, I mention my upcoming course - Journey to the Center of Yourself: Discover Your True Purpose. To explore the course details, click below:

Hello and welcome to a new episode of Inner Work.

0:50.9

I'm so glad you're here, and I want to make just a quick announcement so that we can

0:57.1

celebrate this together. This month, which is, let's see, November 22, the podcast is on

1:06.0

track to surpass 100,000 downloads in just one month. So when I first started this podcast, I was getting

1:16.3

maybe 20 downloads per month. Mostly it was my mom, my dad, a few friends tuning in here and

1:24.6

there, myself tuning in, so I was one of the downloads, which doesn't count.

1:30.4

So bless all of those people for supporting me from the very beginning.

1:36.8

I could never have imagined this outcome, this much growth, and it would never have happened

1:43.2

without you. My dear listener,

1:46.2

you tuning in, subscribing to the podcast, downloading these episodes, that's what the numbers

1:53.6

reflect, and this whole endeavor truly wouldn't exist without your presence. So thank you for contributing in such an important

2:04.4

way and for continuing to show up to spend time with me here. My heart is very grateful.

2:14.2

And now on to the episode.

2:31.0

So today we're talking about purpose, and more specifically, what happens when we experience a crisis of purpose and how we can navigate through that.

2:37.2

I want to be clear about the terms I'm using today, as always. So let's start with this concept or idea of a crisis of purpose. Let's unravel that a little bit. What does that mean?

2:45.4

It might seem obvious, but I still want to be clear about the terms. So basically, on the path of awakening,

2:53.7

many of us often have the experience at some point of realizing all the ways in which our

3:00.5

lives are not serving us, or the things in our lives that aren't working for us anymore.

3:10.1

This could include relationships, friendships, friendships, certain patterns or habits or behaviors that we've been doing for a long time.
