One, however, is Conquistador Helmets, which is not really my expertise, but I'm like, oh, I might go on a deep dive into Conquistador Helmets. I have not, alas, I'm trying to keep myself on topic about ancient warfare. The 15th century conquistula helmet is well outside that period.

So I'm going to answer your first question, Eric, not your second.

This first question is, what was the purpose of the crest in the crested helmet of the ancient Greeks and Romans?

Wow. Yes. Now, for the third time in a row, I'm going to say

that this is like a Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin movie. It's complicated.

Sorry, John Krasinski is well in that. I don't want to leave him out of the cast. Now,

it's complicated. why is it complicated

because there are multiple reasons for crests and some of them are modern conjecture some of

them are ancient conjecture some of them are possibly guesswork and we don't knows.

Now, we know helmets have crests,

and we know helmets have various types of crests.
