There's three levels of backer. There is

attempt to answer this question. Is there today or has there been anyone trying to conduct

larger scale experimental archaeology to try and answer some of the common questions about

certain infantry tactics tropes such as the Athismos and Open versus Closed Order

Legions. As a rugby player, I have my own opinions on what would likely work and or be expedient,

but I genuinely believe that if someone were to show up to a club with some replica hoplonshields,

long broom handles and some money for behind the bar, they would find a large number of

willing participants. You are probably right. And indeed, there have been some larger scale

experiments done most recently in 2022 with the 2005-500th anniversary of the Battle of Plataia.

I know that several scholars there, Christian Cameron, Paul Bardunius, and I apologize

if I've missed someone out who's been conducting those experiments.
