And to everyone, this week marks the 50th anniversary of the hijacking of Northwest Orient Airlines

flight 305, better known as the Dan or D.B. Cooper hijacking. Cooper boarded flight

three-o five from Portland to Seattle on November 24th, 1971 and informed the flight

attendant he had a bomb. Cooper demanded $200,000 and

parachutes upon landing in Seattle which he received after releasing all but one

flight attendant and the captain first officer and the flight engineer,

Cooper instructed the pilots to fly in the direction of Mexico City as slow as possible,

so about a hundred knots for the 727, and not above 10,000 feet, the pressurization

altitude.

Somewhere over southwestern Washington State at about 815 in the evening, Cooper jumped out of the 727 via the rear staircase, and he and most of the money were never seen again.

Dan Cooper hijacking remains the only unsolved case in commercial aviation history.

There's also all of the evidence is available for public consumption.

I believe it's over 60 volumes housed by the FBI.
