Good afternoon, everyone. It's Dr. Niagara again, our next episode of Psychology Unplugged.

You know, this whole concept of vulnerability, which is something I think we all struggle

with to some degree to really, you know, be able to confront our raw cells, our true,

really raw individual personas.

So this episode, I think that's the second time I've done this because I do these

off the top of my head, I've actually made some notes. We're going to talk about automatic thoughts,

which is a core component in cognitive behavioral therapy, is identifying automatic thoughts thoughts and people who struggle with

like negative self-talk and it's associated with a wide variety of clinical issues

depression anxiety PTSD eating disorders OCD a lot of the mood disorders.

They have automatic thoughts that really distort their view of themselves and the world and sometimes other people.

And again, that's the whole core concept of personality is my view of myself, my view of other people,

my view of the world around me,

and therefore is the conclusions that I draw as a result of them. These thoughts are sometimes

can be called thinking errors or negative automatic thoughts, but the key component to really

want to focus on is they are irrational

because they are not based in any fact. They are fabrications of the mind. And they almost,

they operate from the premise when we when we all have these automatic thoughts.
