We're delighted to have you here.

And I'm glad to see there's a very good crowd

for a very fine book.

I'd like to start this book by just making,

or to start my introduction by just making a reference to a

gentleman a number of you have heard of,

I'm sure his name was John Dean,

and he was a special assistant to President Nixon and he got

to spend a lot of quality time testifying in Congress because of the plumbers and so forth. And one of his

the plumbers and so forth. And one of his offhand comments which the press picked up was

Washington is a wonderful place if you get to ask the questions. Well, when I was in CIA spokesman, there were all

sorts of people covering us, one of whom was today's speaker, Doug Waller. So now that you've written a book and you're going to stand up here, I will get to ask the questions along with our audience. So it's good for you to experience that other side of the other side of the aisle.

Doug, it was a correspondent at that time, by the way, for Newsweek,
