Now the country has a new climate law, enshrining a 43% cut in emissions by 2030. But does it live up to what the science demands? Even more surprising was the success of the Australian Greens and a group of independent

candidates known as the Teals, who promised strong climate action. And now the Labour government

has done what was, not long ago, unimaginable. It has passed a law that binds the country

to a 43% emissions reduction by 2030.

Anthony Albanese's Climate Change Bill is expected to pass through Parliament after

Teal Independence and the Greens reportedly secured concessions to support Labor's 43%

emissions reduction target.

Although the bill is a historic first, many have criticized it for not aligning with what the

country must do to help the world reach its climate goals.
