Good Monday morning, I'm Jake Sherman and welcome to your political playbook audio briefing.

And I'm Anna Palmer. It's not only Republicans, a Democratic staffer emailed us about discomfort with the Hill COVID workplace,

noting that the staffer worked for a progressive Democrat in Congress, but that the AIDS chief of staff has been putting pressure

on AIDS to come to the office in person, despite concerns that have been raised about health

concerns of other family members.

The staffer noted that congressional staff have no workplace rights and that there was

a certain hypocrisy for these members and offices fighting for equal pay and rights for others,

but that's often not practice in the halls of Congress.

The New York Times editorial board is weighing in, calling on Congress to test itself for COVID

and that members ought to lead by example.

Driving today, Mark Meadows and Stephen Mnuchin are expected on Capitol Hill for negotiating

sessions on COVID relief.

Staff held a policy call on Sunday.

We're moving into the phase where serious progress has to be made or it may be time to reconsider

who's at the negotiating table.

If a deal is reached today, it won't be, but let's assume it is for argument's sake.

We're looking at votes late this week or early next week.

Enhanced unemployment expired Friday.
