Northern Peru. Now, let's go back to the Wanchaco district on August 29th,

2019.

A group of archaeologists crouched on the ground, gently brushing dirt away from a small, solid mass.

The scientists could tell the object was smooth

and white. After some rigorous excavation, they finally uncovered it, the skeleton of a human

child. And it wasn't the only one. Over the course of the day, they discovered more and more

bodies. Their final count was 227 children, all between the ages of 5 and 14.
