Good Thursday morning. I'm Jake Sherman and welcome to your political playbook audio briefing.

And I'm Anna Palmer. It's Thursday and President Donald Trump will close the Republican

convention this evening from the White House. And as the GOP seeks to rally around Trump

68 days before Election Day, here's what the world looks like. More than 100 prominent

alumni of the last three Republican nominees, George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney

are endorsing Joe Biden. A group of immigrants who were nationalized by Trump during the convention

now say they had no idea they were being used as

political props. Major League sports have come to a screeching halt after a black man was shot

several times by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles

Clippers, two of the best teams and contenders for the NBA championship, voted to boycott the

rest of the season. Baseball teams set out as did WNBA teams. A massive storm has made landfall on the Louisiana coast, threatening major damage to the Gulf region of the United States. Our colleague Natasha Karecki was on the ground in Kenosha, where she's reporting Dems fear the unrest is playing into Trump's hands, and it could damage Democrats' chance in the swing state. The AP is reporting that a 17-year-old has been arrested after two were killed in Kenosha.

The New York Times is a look at how Trump's convention has been a crucial play for the suburbs.
