| 0:00.0 | It's a whopper last night. We're getting your reaction. What are we getting in Kyrie Irving? |
| 0:04.5 | I'm reading from Gary Washburn in the Boston Globe. He says the Celtics would not have made this deal if they didn't think Irving would resign after the 18-19 season. I agree with that. I'm not worried about Kyrie even |
| 0:15.1 | or Irving leaving after two years |
| 0:16.6 | like he's going to come here |
| 0:17.9 | I think they're going to win at a high level |
| 0:19.7 | most players who come here like it here |
| 0:21.9 | I'm talking about NBA players |
| 0:23.7 | you know they may be reluctant at first for whatever reason. But once they get here, they generally love it. It's a great place to play. He's going to find that. And he's going to be here long term. I'm not worried about that. I'm really not. So I agree with that. I think the Celtics know it. He knows it. I think Irving's a Celtic for a while. |
| 0:39.2 | But Washburn writes, chemistry will be a question with 10 new players. |
| 0:43.8 | And Irving is not considered a great locker room presence. |
| 0:46.8 | He was troublesome with the media during the 2016 Rio Olympics. |
| 0:50.3 | Get ready for it, Sean. |
| 0:51.1 | And can be moody and cantankerous. |
| 2:19.4 | Will he be revived now that he's in Boston with a fresh start and an opportunity to lead the team in scoring and lead the team past his former club? That's a major question as training camp approaches. Brad Dan, Seannessy, Boston Globe. McCone, what are we getting in Kyrie Irving? Look, there are some huge red flags with Irving, I think, personality-wise. I mean, first of all, it's a huge red flag that you won off one of the two teams that had a legitimate shot at winning the championship. And then you realize the reasons he wanted off this team, one of the big ones, you know, LeBron James Buddies could ride on the team playing and his couldn't. That was a huge sticking point for Kyrie Irving apparently. You know, he didn't want to be the Batman to LeBron's Robin, even though LeBron James is the best player in the world. And he had more shots last year than LeBron James per game, which is ridiculous. And then he was jealous of Damian Lillard and John Wall and those guys because they were the face of the franchise. So the fact that this guy wants to be, you know, the face of an eight seed in the playoffs rather than be on a championship team to me is an issue. That being said, he's a top 10 talent. I 1,000 would want him because in this league, talent wins championships. But this is not a gritty, you know, you're not getting Tom Brady here in Kyrie Irving. There are some red flags in terms of the competition. So if you've so many concerns about his character and what he is then why are you sell in favor of the trade that doesn't seem to make sense in the NBA talent wins you can win with guys like this in the NBA you can't in other sports in the NBA it's different you need the talented guys on your team a super duper star in the NBA is going to have diva tendencies and I'm sure that, look, I think it's a bad look to me. |
| 2:20.8 | I couldn't see doing something like that. |
| 2:33.1 | But if I grew up being coddled my whole life, I knew I was going to end up in the NBA, number one pick like Irving was. And I look at LeBron, and I know deep down I probably should have been the finals MVP a couple of years ago. and the reason we won that title was more me than you, LeBron, |
| 2:34.7 | I'd be a little bit pissed too. |
| 2:36.2 | I want the superstar treatment. |
| 2:37.9 | Boy, I'm just, I don't know if he's going to get it here. |
| 2:34.3 | They're not going to get |
| 2:37.6 | it here. They're not going to let his buddies on the team playing with the Celtics. Did the Celtics do that? Celtics aren't one of those teams? Didn't they let Rondo go away for his birthday party? he stayed in Sacramento for his birthday party right yeah and then but then he was suspended for it I thought |
| 2:50.6 | allegedly I think that didn't fly with the team I don't think that I don't think that I don't Sacramento for his birthday party, right? Yeah. But then he was suspended for it, I thought. |
