Today, being pinged following flights with people infected with coronavirus, what's changed?

The Corona Testing Centre continues to make strange claims and how

travel in Shetland remains defiantly analogue in a digital age. Of course, this podcast is completely free,

promptly at 7 a.m. on Friday morning. This week, thank goodness, there is a little bit of

easing of the rules, particularly where people who have been fully vaccinated, are concerned in terms

of having been in contact with people infected with coronavirus. In the context of travel,

what's really important is that up till this week, if you've been on an easy jet or a Ryan

airplane and somebody had tested positive for

coronavirus after you got off the plane, then you are going to be contacted and told you must

self-isolate. Now, instead, you will be told you must take a PCR test. My understanding is that that is strong advice as opposed to the law.

However, I would urge you to do so because of course if there is some danger that you've been in contact with somebody,

a PCR test will help you to establish that. So please do take a PCR test if you are requested to do so.

But assuming you are fully vaccinated, you will not need to self-isolate any more, which will mean

that an awful lot of people will be saved the misery of having to go and sit inside for a week or more

because they happen to have been on the same plane of somebody who might have been 30 rows away with them.

Next, I was talking yesterday about the strange claims made by some COVID testing companies about the requirements for leaving the UK.

As I hope you know, there is no obligation to get any kind of fit-to-fly test.

The only issue is, and that's leaving the UK, coming back to the UK,

you definitely need one. The only issue is what does your destination country need? Well, if you look

this morning on the Corona Testing Centre website, it will still say fit to fly test required. I talked to them yesterday about this and said
