Playbook Daily Briefing.

Here's your almost daily update on the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

While the Senate worked late trying to get it done last night, it wasn't meant to be.

However, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer did file cloture on the bill, setting up a vote

for it as early as Saturday.

Don't expect a lot of movement on the bill today.

A number of senators will be flying out to Wyoming to pay their respects to the late

Senator Mike Enzi.

One thing to note, though, the CBO did release a report that says the bipartisan infrastructure bill would add a net total of $256 billion to the deficit over 10 years.

You might remember a couple days ago, we mentioned Mitch McConnell's problem with Herschel Walker

running for Senate in Georgia. Well, days after McConnell's political flax complained about

playbooks reporting that detailed his concerns, comes to CNN's story adding to it. It turns out

McConnell is so worried about the former running back and Trump favorite becoming the GOP's nominee in Georgia, that he's seeking out other candidates.

The report from CNN says that McConnell, quote, has suggested to allies that former Georgia senators David Perdue and Kelly Leffler should take another look at running again, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

McConnell, who has privately expressed his deep concerns with Walker's potential candidacy,

is also meeting this week with another potential candidate, former Trump National Security

Official Leitham Sadler, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Not all Republicans want Leffler.

Skeptic see her as Martha McSally 2.0, an ex-member appointed by a GOP governor who couldn't get it done in an election.
