I'm on the phone with Ashvin, and today we are discussing

audition from 1999, directed by Takashi Miquet,

written by Daiske Tengen,

whose screenplay is an adaptation of Rue Moracame's 1997 novel of the same name,

starring Rio Ishi Basha, A.G. Shina, June Kunimura, and Tetsu Soaki.

I hope I got those names right. In this film, a man stages an audition for a role in a film

that is actually intended to help him find a wife.

If you're new to the show, we are going to talk about some background info on audition,

spoiler-free for the first 15 or 20 minutes.

But after that, we're going to play some transition music and move into the plot walkthrough

where we go through the whole plot in detail, spoiling everything as we go and reviewing
